June 2015 Feeding Outreach

We had an amazing "picnic on the curb" feeding outreach on the streets of New Orleans today where 38 volunteers served 173 plates of delicious picnic food to the homeless and hungry in the area.  They enjoyed tons of hamburgers, hot dogs, pulled pork sandwiches, potato salad, baked beans, mac & cheese, pasta salad, green salad, rice and beans, tons of dessert & snacks, and a variety of drinks, including Cane's iced tea!!  We also passed out 27 eyeglasses, 57 hygiene bags, 8 Bibles and a number of various other books.  There was an abundance of people asking for prayer, more than any of the previous outreaches.  We can see the Lord moving and working in these people, especially the "regulars" that visit us and have become like extended family.  To God be the Glory!!

And, once again, God blessed us with great weather and no rain despite the weather reports.

I have attached a couple of pictures below from today.  The rest of the pictures will be up on the website the first part of next week - so be sure and check them out when you get a chance.

We want to thank all of the volunteers who participated in any way with this outreach -- we cannot do this without you!  You were amazing today and because of your sincerity, smiles and compassion, our homeless guests are enjoying our visits and are beginning to reach out for prayer and assistance.  Today was like one big happy 4th of July picnic!  Thanks for showing your love and compassion to these precious people and letting them know that we care and love them.
